Steve has 30 years of financial and operational management experience in public accounting and private industry as well as experience leading several successful companies. He has held leadership positions as President & CEO, CFO, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller in several privately held and publicly traded companies. Since 1998, Steve has successfully served nearly 100 clients while leading a management consulting practice.
Steve has extensive experience in fraud risk management, internal controls, forensic accounting and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. He has led three dozen risk management engagements, including fraud risk management projects and the oversight of management’s assessment of internal controls required by §404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. Steve has also performed forensic accounting services for several clients on engagements where fraud had already occurred, constructing the documentation and support of the "money trail", which allowed for the significant recovery of cash. In all of the roles that Steve has held and consulted on, strong internal controls have been vitally important and key for the success of the organizations. He is experienced in the assessment, development and improvement of internal controls necessary to ensure the safeguarding of assets, while being practical for the operation of the business. In particular, Steve has worked with many small to medium sized entities whereby strong controls have been vital, but the resources were limited.
In addition, Steve founded a precision machining company, which manufactured components for the aerospace and defense industries and for a variety of OEMs in the agricultural and sports/recreational marketplaces.
Steve is a CPA (inactive) and he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
